Grammar, schmammar....

Sunday, September 27, 2009

Actually, grammar matters. I just thought I'd share something that made me laugh at work yesterday with you. I was helping a customer over the phone with her request of a book entitled "[Lose] That Man and Let Him Go" by T.D. Jakes. Well, at least that's what I typed in the search. I kept coming up with nothing under that title and kept thinking "Am I typing the title incorrectly? Is she giving me the correct title/author? Why is it not coming up?!" I finally decided to just type in the author and make this impossible search possible. Little did I know I'd actually find the book she was looking for but with the title spelled like this: "Loose That Man and Let Him Go." I don't know if the spelling is intentional or not. Maybe I'm missing the content of the book and I'm wrong about the title being incorrect but LOOSE ≠ LOSE.

Molla. I've never come across this in the year and 5 months I've worked at B&N. Gotta love working at a bookstore, I tell yah. Hahaha!

Have a great Sunday, all!

Remembering 9/11

Friday, September 11, 2009

Can you believe it's been 8 years since the tragedy in NY?

It still feels like yesterday to me. I remember waking up, getting ready for school, and all of a sudden seeing and hearing the news on the way to school. I recall sitting in Mr. Burger's French class watching the second tower collapse. It all happened so quickly. And 8 years later, we're here STILL fighting a war that doesn't really make any sense to me anymore.

My prayers go out to those families who have lost a loved one 8 years ago. They will not be forgotten because they live on in your memories.

----------------
Happy Birthday, Inang! We love and miss you dearly.
It's been 8 years. I still get choked up when I think about you even though I shouldn't.
You told me to be strong and smile instead of mourn. I've done my best, Inang.
Thank you for everything. I know you're watching down on us at His side.
Paradise is celebrating with you today!

SLOW DOWN [i just wanna get to know you]

Thursday, September 3, 2009

I woke up at 5AM to a dream that felt like an action scene from a movie:

--I was driving behind a couple of big rigs through a tunnel that happened to be swerving, switching back and forth between lanes. I believe I was driving on the 110N towards Pasadena and the 5 fwy where the lanes are narrow. I had no way of trying to pass these trucks since every attempt I made to do so, the drivers would somehow block my way. Instead, I decided to slowly trail behind the trucks. All of a sudden a speedy little car passes me from the left side and attempts to cut in front of these two big rigs.

BIG MISTAKE!

The trucks all of a sudden decide to switch lanes while the other car is in the same lame and as you would conclude, MAJOR CAR CRASH. I'm not exactly sure how I was able to avoid the accident but I drove away unharmed. And like most movies, you would see people stop and get out of their cars to see what happened after the accident. So, I get out of my car after seeing the two big rigs crash into each other and into the other car while the ambulance and firefighters get there to try and clear the scene.

BAD IDEA to get out of my car with everyone (I don't remember who I had in the car.) All of a sudden someone says, "Go back!! Get down!! It's gonna explode!" So, of course, everyone freaks out and tries to run for their lives. Unfortunately, the warning wasn't early enough and the trucks burst into flames right after. (Yes, there were actual casualties in my dream.) While everyone around is freaking out, I decide to walk over to the scene of the accident after the fire subsides. The moment I was about to find out WHO was in the car that sped past me and caused the accident, I woke up. --

Lovely, huh?! I wanted to know who it was! Oh well.

Dream analysis time. Anyone want to take a stab at it?
I could think of a few situations that could be used to interpret this dream but I won't right now. I want to know what you think. ^^

In a nutshell, I believe my subconscious is telling me not to rush things. The paths in front of me aren't clear yet so I have to take my time. But those who decide to rush into things will 'crash and burn.' Well, that's ONE interpretation.

Curiosity kills the cat, y'know. xP

Love.

I'll put you in front of me
So everybody can see
My love, this is my love

I know that I'll be alright
As long as you are my guide
My love, this is my love

-Jaeson Ma - "LOVE"
-----------------------

The song says it all. I was completely touched by this song so much more today than when I first heard it yesterday. I guess I wasn't really listening until now. I hope this song touches you in some way as it did me. Thank you, Jaeson Ma, for sharing His message with us in an entirely different way.

Priceless.

ISA SF update

Friday, March 27, 2009

So, I found some videos on YouTube from ISA. I'm just posting my favorite parts of the event... which was basically all of it. Hahaha! But you get to see why it was a must to fly up to the Bay that weekend. ENJOY!

AND I found one of Passion and Paul Dateh at 4C The Power Workshops. How I wish I was there to see this in person.

ISA/SF WEEKEND.

Monday, March 23, 2009

March 20-March 22 (sort of)
ISA/SF weekend was awesome! Money well spent, I must say.

Friday, March 20
First things first, I'm definitely taking Virgin America from now on. Hella nice planes and the prices are just as much as South West and/or JetBlue. I love traveling by plane BUT the airport procedures just don't like me. All these new regulations that I forgot about cost me an extra $25 to check a small duffel bag in from LAX to SFO. What a pain! "There goes one shirt!" I say to Cozette while I struggle putting my shoes back on from the second time I go through the metal detector.

1hr 30min flight from LAX to SFO. We get our baggage fairly quickly but what takes FIVE-EVER is our shuttle to the hotel. Normally it wouldn't matter if it took so long for us to wait but we were running on a tight schedule since we were hours away from standing in line for the International Secret Agents (ISA) event. After 20-30 minutes of waiting, we finally get on the shuttle and head to our hotel which was NOT what we were expecting. But no time to complain now. We check in, get to our room which was on the second floor and there was NO ELEVATOR, then head back to the main lobby to wait for the stupid shuttle again to take us to the BART.

--side note: most of our time at SF was spent waiting if we weren't walking. Haha!--

Now let's fast forward a little bit. After using almost all means of public transportation (i.e., plane, BART, taxi) to get to SF just for ISA, we finally arrive at the Palace of Fine Arts around 5:30 maybe 6pm. Of course we wanted to get there early enough so we could find decent seats to watch the show since general admission was first come first serve seating but that wasn't the case. We were almost towards the end of the line and there were a bunch of high school kids ahead of us spazzing over just about everything.

The show was AMAZING. Despite my stupid migraine that attacked me before the show even started, I was able to enjoy it. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures to show for but there are a bunch of pictures and some videos on FM-Far East Movement and Wong Fu's websites.

We didn't end up staying after for the meet-and-greet cuz it was a pretty long day for us. I heard they stayed until everyone was able to meet them. That's pretty dope. [Cozette, we should've waited! We could've gone to Mel's with them afterwards! DAMN!]

Saturday, March 21
A day in the city!
After the long night you would think we would sleep in until at least noon, right? WRONG. My stupid alarm on my phone starts going off around 7:30am! All I hear is it vibrating against the damn table. So much for sleeping in on a Saturday. Lucky for me, I was able to go back to sleep while Cozette was getting ready. Haha! After eating the breakfast of champions (ice cream, son!) and finally getting ready for the day, we finally leave our room to head to the airport/BART a little after noon.

We arrive downtown and the first thing we do is get something to eat. Panda Express helped energize us for a long day of walking and shopping. Haha! We visited Jaena at work about an hour before she gets off and spend the rest of the evening with her. Yay! Too bad we didn't get to see her apartment. I guess that means we need to take another trip to the Bay. :]

Sunday, March 23
All good things must come to an end sometime.
And I end up leaving the Bay with a head cold. I felt bad for the two ladies sitting next to me on the plane. I was sniffling and blowing my nose for the entire 48 minute flight. Hahaha! I took a looooong nap when I got home.

Things to remember for future trips:
-Make sure to double check what I pack and which bags I put them in!
-Take Virgin America, f'sho! Next time, we're gonna make use of that chat room and playing those games. Haha!
-NEVER take a taxi unless our lives depend on it.
-Oh, and we're never staying at a Travelodge ever again! Ugh. Haha!

And that ends another memorable weekend. For the sake of supporting FM, WF, Passion, Paul Dateh, and the dance crews that performed I nearly lost my voice and endured lack of sleep and lots and lots of waiting and walking. Hahaha! It was well worth it.

ISA LA, I'M READY!!

"I got a fetish for these kicks..."

Friday, January 23, 2009

So, about a week ago Ianne and I decided that we were going to venture off to the Cerritos and Lakewood area instead of our usual excursions in the South Bay. A trip to Guppy's was totally long over due but first we headed to Lakewood Mall in search of Ianne's shoes. We get to the mall 30-45 minutes before it closes and head straight to Shiekh. Maybe I should've prepared myself to refuse such temptations before entering a store full of shoes, but that didn't happen. Ianne found the shoes she wanted and was lucky that the shoes fit because they weren't her exact size. And well, as for me... I was sucked into buying a pair of shoes that normally wouldn't buy/wear on a regular basis. They were just too awesome to pass up. Happy early Valentine's Day to me! Hahaha!

These shoes DEFINITELY need to be blessed soon. :]

Happy New Year!

Better late than never. Hahaha!

I don't know what I'm going to blog about right now. Perhaps I shouldn't neglect this blog as much as I have towards the end of the year.

I'll keep you updated with my daily happenings as much as I can. For now, I hope your 2009 has treated you well so far. I know it has for me. Well, except for being sick on New Year's Day.

More to come. You'll see. :]
